Thrust boring / pipe jacking

Thrust boring is primarily used in canalization and pipeline construction. Targeted control allows tunnels to be dug for pipelines that must be laid at a defined gradient. With our machinery, we can create tunnels of 114 to 1700 mm diameter over distances of up to 100 m.

The hydraulically driven thrust boring machine thrusts steel casing pipes into the earth. Inside these casing pipes is a drilling auger, which also serves to convey excavation material into the starting pit. In the starting pit, the casing pipes are welded together and the auger is prolonged piece-by-piece.

Thrust boring also works in hard ground. The down-the-hole hammer bashes through stones and bedrock.

For drill jobs that must be highly precise, we drill a pilot bore followed if necessary by a widening bore.
